The Farm as an Ecosystem

Saturday July 21st  11am

Join Martin of Mapleton's Organic for a walk around the farm. Topics to be discussed will include:

  • Cover crops & soil life
  • Building organic matter, sequestering carbon and reducing soil erosion
  • Supporting and encouraging wildlife on the farm

The tour will be approximately 60 minutes and participants will walk with Martin to nearby fields as the above topics are discussed.

Please note some walking areas may be uneven. Closed toe shoes such as running shoes or hiking boots are suggested. In the event of a wet week, rubber boots.

The walk will take place sun to light drizzle. In the event of rain or thunderstorms it will be cancelled and registered participants will receive a refund.

$5 + tax if you pre-register via Eventbrite
$8 + tax day of - If purchasing day of, please arrive early and make your purchase in the Farm Store.

Please meet Martin in front of the Store by the wooden shed for the walk.

Bee Workshops - Saturday, June 23rd

Did you know that bees are an important part of our ecosystem?

Get up close to a working bee hive and watch the bees work their magic with Tri-City Bee Rescue!

Learn about the bee hierarchy and spot the different characteristics. 

Participants will be able to fully inspect a working hive behind the safety of the screen tent.

Learn the importance of pollination and how bee keepers and farmers work together to provide people with food. 

We will be offering two types of sessions! A shorter child friendly version and a longer, more detailed adult version. 

****Pre-registration is recommended and appreciated, but it is also ok to register upon arrival at the Farm Store.

Demonstration Barn - A variety of animals and feathered friends are ready to greet you including pigs, sheep and chickens.

Goat Pen - Visitors are welcome to enter the goat pen, located near the demo barn, and play with the goats!
